Sam Konstas (born 2 October 2005) is an Australian cricketer who plays for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield and for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League. He is a right-handed opening batsman and has also played for the Australia under-19 cricket team.

Born in Sydney to Greek parents, Konstas went to Cranbrook School. In July 2023, he was selected for the Australian under-19 team for a tour to England. He made his first-class debut in November 2023 against Tasmania. In December 2023, he signed his first professional contract with Sydney Thunder. Later that month, he was named in the Australian squad for the 2024 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he scored 108 runs off 121 balls against the West Indies.

Konstas made his first century in first-class cricket on 8 October 2024, scoring 152 runs off 241 balls against South Australia. He scored another century in the second innings of the same match, becoming the youngest player to do so in the Sheffield Shield since Ricky Ponting in 1993.

After a strong start to the 2024-25 Sheffield Shield season, Konstas was picked for the India A tour of Australia. In the second unofficial Test, he scored 73 not out in the second innings, helping his team win.

On 1 December 2024, Konstas played for the Prime Minister’s XI against India A in a 46-over match. He scored 107 runs off 97 balls, hitting 14 fours and a six against top bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja.

In December 2024, Konstas made his Big Bash League debut for Sydney Thunder against Adelaide Strikers. He scored a record-breaking 50 off just 20 balls, the fastest fifty in Sydney Thunder history. He ended up with 56 runs, hitting eight fours and two sixes.

On 20 December 2024, Konstas was named in Australia’s 15-man Test squad for the Boxing Day Test against India. He received his Baggy Green from former Australian captain Mark Taylor. Konstas made his Test debut as an opener, scoring 60 runs, including four fours and two sixes. He reached 50 runs off 52 balls, the third-fastest 50 by an Australian debutant in Test cricket.
