David Muir also known as David Jason Muir (born November 8, 1973) is a well-known American journalist and news anchor. He is the main anchor for ABC World News Tonight and co-anchor of the ABC news program 20/20, both part of ABC’s news division based in New York City. Before becoming the main anchor on World News Tonight in September 2014, Muir worked as the weekend anchor and the main substitute for Diane Sawyer on the same program.
Muir has won several prestigious awards for his journalism, including multiple Emmy Awards and Edward R. Murrow Awards for both national and international reporting. In 2024, he was honored with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism. Additionally, he won Emmys for Outstanding Live News Program in 2023 and 2024, as well as the Edward R. Murrow Award for Network TV Newscast during those years.
